With an activity filled event, youth gained a foundation of youth empowerment, enhanced their leadership skills, developed effective time management skills, and used creativity to think the box to create and implement advocacy ideas.

"Bowling Out Butts" May 30, 2009

Bowling Out Butts was hosted in observance of World No Tobacco Day. This annual celebration informs the public on the dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what the World Health Organization (WHO) is doing to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations. The event was very successful and allowed community members to enjoy themselves with friends and family members in a tobacco-free environment. The Duval County Health Department’s Tobacco Prevention Program and SWAT youth were on-site offering support to tobacco users interested in quitting, registering individuals for free telephone counseling provided by the FL Quitline, and distributing Quit Kits for their journey to a tobacco-free lifestyle.
