• FreeNights

FreeNights is a campaign to encourage restaurants, bars, and clubs to voluntarily adopt smokefree policies.

Our movement is NOT trying to change the law and we are not anti-smoker. We’re focused on encouraging bar and club owners to voluntarily change their policies, and are dedicated to working with venues that are smokefree or interested in becoming smokefree.

    It's Better For Your Health

Everyone has the right to earn a living in a safe environment.

Unfortunately, not everybody in North Florida enjoys this right. Although most indoor workplaces are smokefree by law, smoking is still allowed in bars and nightclubs. People who work in bars and clubs where smoking is allowed are exposed to secondhand smoke everyday when they work. This is harmful and unsafe.

Employees who are exposed to secondhand smoke in the workplace are 20-30% more likely to get lung cancer. The longer the exposure, the higher the risk.

The science is clear: there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke.

No one should have to choose between their paycheck and their health.

    It's Better for Business

Smokefree bars are good for your bottom line.

The evidence is clear and consistent: going smokefree does not hurt business. Economic studies continue to show that it doesn’t harm bar patronage, employment, or profits. In fact, sometimes it improves employment and revenue!

A smokefree work environment improves worker health and productivity. Going smokefree means lower costs for labor, maintenance and cleaning.

By establishing a smokefree environment, you can promote a healthy work environment where patrons can also enjoy their time out without compromising their health.

    It's Better for Jacksonville

    Most Floridian's DON'T smoke.

Catering to the majority is a good business decision!

Breathing secondhand smoke or vape for a short period of time can have immediate effects, like breathing difficulties, eye irritation, headaches, nausea, and asthma attacks. Brief exposure can also damage your blood vessels and cause a deadly heart attack. We should have the freedom to go out and enjoy our night without dealing with toxic smoke or vape.

More and more people are saying “smokefree/vape-free is the choice for me!” your support is greatly appreciated as we encourage venue owners to make voluntary change.
